Your phone number is not the product

Describing a job on ReadyTrade does not send your phone number to anyone. You see a ranked list of suitable tradies; they do not see you until you decide.

What a tradie can see before you choose them

Your first name, your suburb, and the job itself.

Not your phone number. Not your surname. Not your street address. Those are withheld by the system, not by policy — the ranked list has no field for them, and there is an automated test that fails if a phone number, street or set of coordinates ever appears in it.

Asking for a price does not release your details

This is the part most people expect to work differently.

You can ask several tradies for a price. They can each reply with one. None of them gets your number for answering. Only when you decide to contact one of them does that happen — and then only for that one.

The reason is simple. If asking three tradies for a price handed your number to three tradies, you would learn very quickly not to ask. Then you would be back to ringing one business at a time and hoping.

The one exception, and you have to ask for it

If you mark a job urgent, you are explicitly asking us to find somebody fast. In that case a tradie who accepts gets your number so they can ring you — one tradie, exclusively, with a couple of minutes to make the call. If they do not ring, the access is revoked.

That is the trade you are making when you tap urgent, and it is the only case where somebody gets your number without you picking them.

What happens if you delete your account

Your phone number is released, not just marked as deleted. That matters for a reason that is easy to miss: if the record were merely flagged, signing in again with the same number would restore the old account, and you could never re-register with your own mobile.

What stays is a tradie’s side of the history — the work they completed, the reviews they earned. Erasing that would edit somebody else’s trading record, which other customers rely on to choose.
