Questions people actually ask
The same answers the ReadyTrade app gives, kept in one place.
Will tradies start ringing me as soon as I post a job?
No. Posting a job shows you a list of suitable tradies — it does not send your number to anybody. You choose who to contact, and nobody gets your details until you do. The one exception is a job you mark urgent, where you are asking us to find someone fast.
How do I get a few prices without being hounded?
Open the list of tradies we found and tap “Ask for a price” on up to five of them. They answer in the app. Your phone number is not released by asking — only by accepting one of their quotes.
What happens if I mark a job urgent?
We offer it to suitable tradies one at a time, about a minute each, rather than alerting everybody at once. The first to accept gets your details exclusively and has two minutes to ring you. If they do not make contact in time, they lose access and the job passes to the next tradie.
Can a tradie pay to appear higher in my results?
No. Ranking is based on how well a tradie fits your job — their trade and specialties, how far away they are relative to the area they cover, their rating, how reliably they respond, and whether their calendar says they are free. There is no paid position and there never will be.
Why is a tradie shown with a warning about my date?
They are not — a tradie who has marked the whole day you asked for as booked is left off your list entirely. They are never shown and never contacted for that job, so anyone who does appear is genuinely free (or simply has not said either way) on that day.
Are tradies licensed and insured?
Tradies tell us their licence details and we show what we have. We verify what we reasonably can, but you should always ask to see a licence before work starts, particularly for electrical, plumbing and gas work.
Can I leave a review?
Yes — once per job, for a tradie you were actually introduced to. Reviews show your first name only, never your surname or address.
How do I delete my account?
Profile, then Delete Account. We remove your name, phone number and email. You can sign up again with the same number later if you want to. Reviews you left stay, without your details attached, because they are part of a tradie’s trading history.
I am a tradie. Why am I not getting any jobs?
Check your profile is finished — we cannot match you without your trade, your specialties and the area you cover. Then check your availability calendar and that “accepting work” is on. If you want urgent jobs, ASAP has to be switched on too.
I am a tradie. Does turning down a job count against me?
No. Saying no honestly is useful — it lets the customer ask somebody else straight away, and it is recorded as a response, not a failure. What does count against you is accepting an urgent job and then never ringing the customer.
