Accept an urgent job and then not ring: what happens

Accepting an urgent job gives you two minutes to ring the customer. Miss that and the job is released to the next tradie, their details are revoked, and it counts as a strike. Three strikes and you stop being offered urgent work until it is looked at.

Why this is harsher than not accepting at all

A tradie who never accepts has cost the customer nothing — the job moves on in a minute. A tradie who accepts and goes quiet has held an exclusive claim on that customer while nobody else could be offered it. On an urgent job that is the worst thing that can happen, because the person waiting has been told somebody is calling.

So not accepting is free. Accepting and not following through is not.

The sequence, in full

One tradie is asked at a time — never a group. You get 60 seconds to accept. Accepting locks the job to you and nobody else can take it. You then have two minutes to make the call. Tap to confirm you have rung, and the clock stops.

If nobody accepts, it moves on, up to eight tradies in turn.

The terms cannot change under you

The accept window and the call window are written onto the job when it is created, not read from a setting when your time runs out. If we retune those numbers tomorrow, a job already in flight finishes on the terms it was offered under.

You are only offered jobs you said yes to

Urgent work only reaches tradies who have opted into it and marked themselves available at that moment. Nobody is woken at 11pm by a platform they never told they were on call.

And you are never struck for our failure

A strike requires you to have won the job and then not rung. If the notification never reached your phone, that is not a strike and it is not counted against your response rate either.
